uPVC doors – Panfield information
Panfield is a small, peaceful village with a population of under 1000. It is located in Essex near Braintree, west of the River Pant.
Although no remains of the Benedictine Priory founded in 1070, exist, you will find some other interesting local historical buildings.
The Parish Church of St Mary the Virgin, formerly of St. Christopher, stands at the village’s east side. Panfield Hall, 400 yards from the church, was built around 1500. The original construction was much larger than the house that remains today. The red brick building is Grade I listed and has some interesting architectural features, including a semi-circular moulded archway.
For refreshments, seek out The Bell Inn, a 15th-century pub offering traditional drinks and food. From March to October, the pub even offers a camping site for tents, caravans, motorhomes and campervans.
Panfield has retained its sense of community with a village hall holding events and social gatherings.
